The Bon Odori celebration took place on 17th July, last Saturday at the Matsushita Stadium, Shah Alam.
By the time we arrived there at 6pm, there were crowds of people.
Bon Odori is a Japanese Buddhist observance of honouring the spirit of ancestors, who return once a year to visit their families. It is a joyous ocassion; bringing families and friends together, celebrating rather than mourning the lives of the departed.
Many came wearing their favourite yukatas and kimonos.
While Japanese companies took the opportunity to promote their cultures, traditions and cuisine.
Traditional dance is performed to entertain the spirits of the ancestors.
